I have recently partnered with Thrizer, this means big savings for my clients with insurance that still allow them to control their own therapy. It is widely known that many insurance companies make it very hard on clients to help cover costs, and they make the process of becoming paneled very long and tedious for clinicians as well. Once dealing with insurance, then they also want to knit pick the client’s ability to have therapy – often denying if it isn’t long enough, or short enough, or detailed notes enough (yes, insurance companies get a copy of the notes from sessions to “prove the client needs them”). This is one of the main reasons why I do not like working with insurance companies. They also tend to reimburse MORE for out-of-network sessions than what they pay their clinicians for in-network. It’s ridiculous, abrasive, and intrusive.
However, I still want to help my clients save as much money as possible so they do not have to fear getting the therapy they need. I also understand how daunting it can be to try and reach out to an insurance company to file a claim every time you have a session to attempt to get reimbursed, and then have to deal with not reaching anyone for weeks, then push backs or denials for the dumbest things. So, instead, I found someone to do that for us! Thrizer is a life-saver, as they will file the claims for you, and deal with the back and forth so you don’t have to.
How it works:
- I will email you a link to create your Thrizer account
- Add your insurance information and a payment method to set up your account
- Review your out-of-network benefits and estimated co-insurance to clarify any questions you have
- I will charge you via Thrizer for our appointments
Please note: They charge a 5% fee (of my rate) if you would like to just pay a copay; you will pay that fee at the time of our session along with your copay. If you are okay paying my full fee and waiting for reimbursement, you have the option to choose that route instead for just a 1% fee. That fee gets deducted from the reimbursement that comes to your bank account. If you are still working towards a deductible, you do not pay any fees!
I am currently a private-pay, out-of-network provider. While I don’t accept insurance directly, your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits, which means that they will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost. I have partnered with Thrizer to handle the out-of-network process automatically for you. With Thrizer, you will only have to pay a copay for our sessions post-deductible, instead of paying my full fee and waiting for reimbursements. This typically allows clients to save on average 70% upfront on our sessions. During our intake process, I can help you verify if you have out-of-network benefits and how much your copay would be.
This is awesome news because it means clients can now save upfront on therapy! The example that Thrizer gives looks like this (and it’s even better because my session fee is cheaper than the example already!):
